The Flex-Lag® Plain-Pattern Lagging is built for conveyor systems operating in low-slip, dry, or indoor environments where consistent traction and pulley protection are essential. Its smooth rubber surface provides stable belt contact without excessive grip, helping to reduce noise, vibration, and pulley wear.

Engineered with high-quality SBR rubber, this lagging offers excellent resistance to abrasion and tension stress while maintaining flexibility for easy installation. Suitable for both drive and non-drive pulleys, the Plain-Pattern Lagging provides an economical and long-lasting solution for maintaining belt performance and extending pulley service life.

Light-Duty Lagging

  • Compact and Efficient: Specially engineered for small pulleys with diameters as small as 50 mm, making it ideal for light-duty and compact conveyor systems.
  • Superior Moisture Control: Small raised rubber buttons grip and support the belt while channeling away moisture to maintain consistent traction.
  • Durable SBR Rubber: Constructed from high-quality SBR (Styrene-Butadiene Rubber) for long-lasting flexibility and wear resistance.
  • Extended Length Options: Available in rolls up to 75 m long, depending on lagging thickness, for greater coverage and fewer joins during installation.
  • Reliable Performance: Delivers excellent traction and belt protection for light, intermittent-duty conveyors across various industries.

Plain-Pattern Lagging

  • Slip-Resistant Design: Helps prevent belt slippage in clean, dry operating environments while maintaining a steady, quiet belt motion.
  • Greater Belt Contact: Provides a larger surface area than patterned lagging, ensuring smoother, more stable belt interaction.
  • Grooved Functionality: Horizontal grooves channel away water and debris, improving traction and dynamic belt performance compared to traditional sheet lagging.
  • Certified Safety: Available with FRAS-approved rubber, marked in blue for easy on-site identification and compliance in regulated environments.
  • Easy to Install: Features drainage grooves spaced at 3.14″ (π) intervals for effortless trimming and alignment during installation.

Diamond-Pattern Rubber Lagging

  • Bidirectional Design: The unique diamond pattern provides superior water-shedding capability in both directions, keeping pulleys clean and dry.
  • Enhanced Debris Removal: Horizontal grooves work alongside the diamond pattern to remove water and debris efficiently, reducing slippage and hydroplaning.
  • Reliable in All Conditions: Performs exceptionally well in both wet and dry applications, maintaining consistent traction under variable conditions.
  • FRAS Certified: Available with FRAS-approved rubber, clearly marked in blue for easy compliance and identification.
  • Simplified Installation: Includes drainage grooves spaced at 3.14″ (π) intervals to make trimming, fitting, and on-site installation faster and cleaner.

To select the right pulley lagging, be sure to consider the environmental conditions around the pulley:

  • Belt condition, i.e., wet or dry
  • The service required for bonded lagging versus weld-on
  • The expected wear life of the lagging

Installation

Installing Flex-Lag® Lagging is fast, simple, and can be completed without removing the pulley from the conveyor system.

  1. Determine Requirements: Refer to the Strip Selection Guide in the sell sheet to calculate the correct number of rolls or strips for your pulley size.
  2. Prepare the Surface: Clean and roughen the pulley face to ensure optimal adhesive bonding.
  3. Apply Adhesive: Use Flex-Lag® Cold Vulcanizing Adhesive to secure the lagging firmly in place.
  4. Mount the Lagging: Align the strips or rolls carefully, pressing evenly to eliminate air pockets and ensure a smooth fit.
  5. Cure & Inspect: Allow the adhesive to cure fully before restarting the conveyor to ensure long-lasting performance.

This labor-saving cold vulcanization process provides a durable, reliable bond for on-site installations — minimizing downtime while ensuring lasting pulley protection and improved belt traction.

Common Industries That Use This Product

Manufacturing & Assembly Lines

Manufacturing facilities use Flex-Lag® Plain-Pattern Lagging on conveyors that handle packaged goods, components, or parts under clean, indoor conditions. Its smooth rubber surface provides steady traction while reducing vibration and belt noise. The lagging’s abrasion resistance ensures longevity even with frequent start-stop cycles. It’s a cost-effective solution for maintaining smooth, reliable operation in production environments.

Food & Beverage Packaging

In food packaging plants, where conveyors operate in dry, hygienic settings, plain-pattern lagging ensures steady belt movement without over-gripping. The smooth finish prevents residue buildup and allows for quick cleaning during maintenance. Its non-marking rubber compound protects belts from surface damage, extending belt life. This makes it ideal for conveyors moving boxes, cans, and sealed food products.

Warehousing & Logistics

Distribution centers and parcel sorting facilities use this lagging for drive pulleys in clean, dry conditions. The balanced friction level maintains reliable belt tension without slippage or excessive wear. Its smooth, uniform surface runs quietly and requires minimal maintenance. Over time, it helps reduce energy consumption and extend the lifespan of both belts and pulleys.

Light Industrial & Electronics Production

In electronics and light industrial production, conveyors require precise belt control and minimal vibration. Plain-Pattern Lagging delivers stable traction without over-gripping delicate materials. Its consistent rubber surface reduces static buildup and wear, promoting smooth handling of sensitive components. It’s a preferred option where controlled, quiet operation is critical to production quality.
